Best WIP: Any works in progress, stories that are not yet complete. Must have a minimum of three chapters to be included.
Best Plot: Stories with a well organised and most original plot. Any story nominated in this category, cannot be nominated for Best PWP.
Best Angst: Any fic that is predominately sad, dramatic, or unhappy. A happy ending is acceptable but there must be issues to resolved before it.
Best Comedy/Fluff: Any fic that is funny or light hearted.
Best Romance: Any fic that makes you wanna go 'Awww!'. The romance/getting together of Buffy and Spike should be the key plot line.
Best Dark: Any fic that deals with issues of a more serious nature such as character death, torture, non-con, etc.
Best PWP: Porn without Plot. A fic nominated in this category cannot be nominated for Best Plot.
Best Crossover: Stories that crossover with characters from Angel, and other tv shows, movies and books.
Best Episode Stealer: Fics based on an episode. This can either be filling in a scene not shown on TV, or the rewriting of the episode.
Best Alternate Reality: Fics set in the 'Wish Verse' or 'Shrimp Verse' or any other world than the canon BtVS. This category is NOT for all human fics.
Best Fantasy: All humans fics. No such thing as vampires, demons, or slayers. Often called AU's.
Best Future Fic: Stories set after the conclusion of BtVS, often labelled as 'Post Chosen' fics. Do not have to follow the storyline alluded to in Season Five of Angel.
Best Challenge Response: Stories written as a response to a challenge issued by someone other than the author. Access to challenge requirements/details is required.
Best Buffy Characterisation: Stories with excellent characterization of Buffy.
Best Spike Characterisation: Stories with excellent characterization of Spike.
Best Original Character: Best original character created by the author.
Best Villain: Best outstanding villain in a story. Can be both BtVS/AtS characters and original characters.
Best Supporting Character: Best use of a supporting character in a story.
Best Author: Best overall writing. This is limited to a single author; collaborative teams are not eligible for nomination.
Best New Author: Best new talent. To be eligible for this category, the author must have written four stories or less.

Best Buffy/other: Best non-Spuffy story. Buffy may be paired with any male character from the show, OR from another fandoms. Partner MUST be identified on the nomination form to be elligible for the award.
Example: Buffy/Angel.
Best Spike/other: Best non-Spuffy story. Spike may be paired with any female character from the show, OR from another fandoms. Partner MUST be identified on the nomination form to be elligible for the award.
Example: Spike/Dusilla.
Best Reconcilliation: Last round we had the 'Best Break Up' award. Now show us how you get Buffy and Spike back together again. Give us a happy ending.
Best Collaborative Team: Best writing team (of two or more authors.) The story nominated must be a collaborative work, and only ONE fic per writing duo (or trio) may be nominated in this category.
